it's a double post kind of day
March 27, 2012so hey, me again, i know it's annoying to post multiple times a day, but whatever.
I JUST HAD THE GREATEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!
I went for a run, to the temple (which is south of my apt) & back was my plan. well, my sister works at the hospital (which is definitely north of me) and I was like hey, I'll visit my sister on my run back (this seriously just shows how directionally challenged i am)
so i hit 400 east, and I'm going. I see in the distance an older lady anxiously awaiting to pull her garbage can in (the garbage man was on that road), so I hurried and ran up & asked her if she wanted me to do it, or if she needed any help. She smiled at me & said, no thanks :), but have you seen my easter tree? obviously, I hadn't, so I told her no. She then invited me into her house and showed me all of her easter decorations, family photographs, her jewelry, etc... We sat & chatted while all this was happening as well. She walked into her kitchen, and asked if I would like some treats...Well if anyone knows me, they know I don't eat sugar. So I told her no thank you and that I didn't actually eat sugar. Don't worry, she busted out some sugar free wafers on me, cut the entire package in half and gave it to me. I told her that I was really fine, but she insisted I take them.Things I learned from my visit with my new found friend, Gayle:
1. "I'm an optimist, I once had a doctor tell me, 'Nobody gets better unless she thinks she will', that's why I'm so healthy and active for my age" (she's 87)--The way to lead a healthy life? Be happy.
2. "Frank is my forever"--The blessings of the temple are real & true love does exist, even after those we love depart from us on this earth.
3. God puts us in all the right places, but if we don't listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost, we'll miss out on many amazing things that we could have experienced.
That was seriously one of the greatest experiences ever, I'm glad I was where I was, when I was, and that the garbage man was getting the garbage from the trash can that Gayle was anticipating taking in at that moment. That was just what I needed :) Not to mention that Gayle taught my parents in high school--how cool is that?
:) I really am beaming, I don't know what else to say...that was great! I'm blessed.
much love
